 Manja Sauce was started by Karim and Debora Mawji in Shallotte as a last minute decision to join a charity event cookoff sponsored by the American Red cross. At the time, Karim did not serve chicken wings at his restaurant so Debora made a sauce for the wing competition. He entered the contest against Myrtle Beaches famed "restaurant row" and won the trophy for "Best on the Beach" chicken wings (1991). Since then, Karim was known for his award winning sauce which everyone in our small town has come to know as Manja sauce. 

We founded Manja! on our love of quality food and our passion for cooking. Little did we know our sauce would extend that passion on to our customers and launch us into a new era of sauce production and experimentation. With our love for sweet Carolina BBQ and hot sauces they were destined to be combined! Made with only the highest quality ingredients, you can find Manja from Wilmington to Myrtle Beach and we hope to bring it to your home town soon!
